PExLab works on many aspects of the application of power electronics, such as motion control, power electronic converters, power and energy systems, electric mobility. In particular, the PEVLab branch of PExLab applies the competences of the group in power electronics, power devices and control to the field of electrified vehicles. The challenges of hybrid and full electric vehicles are addressed in their broad complexity, and the group has experience in performance cars, agricultural vehicles, telehandlers and also boats. In addition, the group works also towards interfacing of the vehicles with the grid.The group does not limit its expertise to the energy processing chain, but it includes research in energy management, dynamic control and interior acoustics of the electrified vehicle, bridging various technologies from from every field of application of power electronics.Contact person: Carlo Concari - carlo.concari@unipr.it
Recent Research Projects PSECOB2 - HiC (Interreg ADRION OIS-AIR, 2020). "PSEudo-COgeneration for Battery heating on electric and hybrid Boats", to provide the proof of concept of an innovative heating techology for battery heating in cold start conditions, with application in e-vehicles. The company 4e consulting s.r.l. (Ferrara, Italy) was part of the consortium.REBASED (University of Parma FIL program, 2021). "REduced-BAllast distributed power converters for Safety, Efficiency and power Density", to propose a novel synchronization approach working at switching rather than fundamental frequency, to remove filters usually needed in parallel operation, thus enabling scalability and redundancy for electrified powertrains.
